Hi Everyone, my friend Dani asked for this one, so I have done lots of photos, but no measurements, because I am A4 and she is Letter size. But we all know how big to make mats for our cards, don’t we??? Come on, eyeball it!!! 🙂
So this is what we are making here, it is cute isn’t it?? I originally saw this on Michelle Le Breton‘s blog and she had seen something similar elsewhere.
You need a base card and 2 other pieces, plus a scrap of white the size of the front of your card and a couple of scraps to make things to hang out of the drawers.
Fold your base card in half and press down. Score first if that is the way you do it.
Use a label die to make the legs of your dresser, I used a Sizzix Bigz die label as it is the only one I have. If no die, then handcut, I know you can do it.
Sponge around the edges of your card to give a distressed dresser type look. All the tings I say are optional, you might like to make a pretty child’s dresser.
Cut a backing piece that fits your card from the top to the legs and from side to side, use the pic below as a guide. Also cut the larger and smaller pieces of your drawers. Sponge around the edges of each piece if necessary.
Place your pieces into position, do not glue them down, you have more pieces to make.
Cut the piece for the cupboard doors, leaving about 1/2″ excess on either side.
As a guide, take a back drawer piece and fold the cupboard doors in to match the width. See the pic.
Now cut two white panels the same size as the folded cupboard door piece. One is put through an embossing folder is you wish, this becomes the glass in the doors. The other piece is the inside of the cupboard.
Use a square punch to cut out the cupboard doors for the glass to fit in.
Cut the cupboard doors into two and also the glass piece.
Assemble the doors and stamp the inside of the cupboard. You might have a nice little teapot and cups, I only had an apple…. sad.
Assemble the cupboard unit, doors and insert the brads for the knobs. Insert the brads in the draw units and assemble them also. Make a couple of little things from your scrap pieces to hang out of the drawers. If you want to.
I also cut a little of the outside of the legs with a circle punch, it just seems to make it more proportionate.
Now there you go, all finished and a wonderful little dresser unit. You can also decorate inside the card. I did.
Hope you liked this. Really no measuring involved, fairly easy. Have fun!!
