Ok Ok I get it, and yes I have been making some cards for the boys or men in our lives.  They are sometimes a little bit difficult and I suppose you really can’t make them with pink or with bows or with bling and flowers either…… So what does that leave us?????  Oh my this can be tricky!!!

So I put all the fancy pretty stuff away and got out a boat stamp….. I have made a card like this before a long time ago and this is such an easy card to make, and so fitting for any male for any occasion too, but I chose a birthday.

This is a shaker card with the image stamped in a little box with sand inside to make the beach.  How cute is that????  The card is a 6×6″ square with a white panel matted onto the front of it.  Then I  cut a square in blue shimmer cardstock 5 1/2 x 5 1/2 inches square and cut a square out of the centre of it.  Stamped the greeting and the birds on the front, waited till it dried and turned it over.  Stuck a 4″ square of acetate (plastic) over the hole and built a box with foamcore.  Stamped my image onto white cardstock and coloured it.  Poured my sand in and stuck the picture behind.  How clever is that???

Then this front panel was then adhered to the card base.  Easy.  The only thing you need to be sure of is if you get your sand from the beach like I did, you need to wash it and make sure it is dry.

Here is a close up of the window in the card and the seagulls.

See that beautiful Stockton Bight sand? Rich in minerals and so typical of  NSW beaches.  Lovely, except when it is between my toes, not too fond of it there thanks!  But I do like to collect shells and sand and driftwood from the beach.  But did you know I wear my wellies when I go there? 🙂

And another pic of the whole card.  I really like this one, an oldie but a very very goodie when it comes to the man in my life.

Hope you get some ideas from this one, thanks for dropping in.

Lauren 🙂

Did you miss me??? Come on I have been gone for a little while, but you will love that I have come back, because I have brought you something that I think is a little special.

This is a little tri-fold card made for someone who is making great leaps and bounds forward in a new endeavour, so I thought she might need a little encouragement in her journey.

Isn’t this the cutest little thing you have ever seen??? I love this paper and like all good things it is not available any more…. 😦  The little card is cut with a Colluzzle Circle template, there are 3 cardstock circles and 6 paper circles, and the paper is then adhered to the cardstock, both front and back with stick glue (the kiddie stuff).

The half panel is also cut with the Coluzzle template, but only halfway and then the other done with my paper cutter.  The flower stamp (Stamp-It Lily) is inked with Tombow brush markers directly to the rubber and then stamped.  All edges have been inked with Colorbox Fluid Chalk Ink Creamy Brown.  The ribbon is inked with this too.

Opening the card by flipping the front cover open reveals a pocket on the left with 2 inspirational tags.  The pocket is decorated with stamping, an inked mulberry paper daisy, brads and rhinestones.

The right hand side gives a journalling block to write my greeting.  Again it is decorated with offset squares and a daisy.

This view shows the card fully opened,  showing the two decorated surfaces, one with just happy daisies and a dream sentiment.  The other with a pocket with an inspirational tag and a friends tag.  The pocket is decorated as a mirror of the other pocket page.

A pic of the back of the closed card.  The card is secured closed with a ribbon and bow.  I really liked the finished card, and the fussy cutting of the back and the sentiment page.

Supply List:

Colluzzle Circle Template (or Spellbinders Nestabilities Classic Circles)
Various stamps
Various embellishments
Designer Paper

Hope you liked this one, I loved bringing it to you!!

Hugs 🙂

This card has taken me days to think about, I cannot believe it was so difficult!!! The Alphabet Challenge on SCS, with the story and the card!!! \

My story was done last week, for heaven’s sake how hard can it be to create a card with a daisy or a dolphin or a daffodil on it???

Very difficult indeed it appears!!!

yes this is a paper daffodil

This SU ribbon is just lovely, wide and makes beautiful bows.  The hatpins of course!! And the paper daffodil comes from the tutorial on Mainly Flowers

complete view of card

Card is 6″ square with a split panel background using two embossing folders – Sizzix Swiss Dots and Craft Concepts Leafy Flourish.  The join is covered by the ribbon, bow and embellishments.  Sizzix Elegant Flourishes by Tim Holtz on the left of card, image and sentiment focals cut by Spellbinders Nestabilities Classic Ovals.

Daffodil stamp by Stamp-It Australia, Greeting stamp from Penny Black as part of a clear set of Betsy Bluebell.

close up of stamped focal and the greeting

Image coloured with Tombow Dual Brush Pens directly coloured onto rubber and stamped.  Embellished with half pearls

Now I know why I had so much trouble getting to my D card, it is intuition of knowing it would not end well.  Yes I found out why I did not for so long a time use my hot glue gun.  Yes you guessed it, I almost dropped a part putting it together with hot glue and automatically grabbed it, glued my fingers together with hot glue and gave myself two beautiful big bright white patches of brittle skin.  So now I think “Hang the price, Glossy Accents is the way to go!”

Now except for this little mishap, my day has really been fantastic!!!

Hope your day is going really really great for you!!!

Hugs Lauren ♥♥

Hey Everyone,

Yes yes yes another post from me, another card of course!!! This one is for the Mix It Up Challenge on SCS, and our very own Miss Lynn gave us a colour challenge, use a colour/colour combo that you have not used for two months….. well it took some work, but let me tell you mauve/lemon have not been touched by me….. Those colours are enough to make me puke!!!

Well after making it and looking at it for a while, it seems to have grown on me.  Mauve background is stamped with white polkadots (SU), the lemon is rolla stamped with running children (Clearsnap Rollagraph) and then embossed in a grid.  SU lace it up punch strip covers the join.  A pretty panel of a Penny Black stamp inked with Tombow Pens.

Sentiment stamp by Penny Black.  Embellishments of flower and buttons.

The focal panel is wrapped in handmade twine.  I love making things like this, it is made with crochet cotton.

Now I have come to l like this, I think this will be my design for the PB Swap, it has to be in pastels.  They are not my colours.

Hey Everyone!! cooler here this morning, so good to feel cool air on my skin, I do not deal well with the heat, so I have been loving this cooler summer with only the few warmer days!! Although the lawn is still growning strong!!

I made a card!! Yes I am back to that, so Lisa hosted the I Spy Challenge on SCS and I am sure it is a candle, so here is my effort, a head start on Christmas this year…. how scary!!

Lisa is so funny, she really takes this so seriously and does such a wonderful job, she makes things so fun!!  So Lisa said….

This week I’m spying one of my favourite things…
It starts with a C and ends with an E…
It goes well with a bath but not with a shower…
You always will need one when you’re with out power…So spark up your mojo and join in the fun…
If you play along with my challenge a prize could be won!!!

Now you know I love winning prizes, I love anything that is a freebie, even if I never use it, so I just had to be in this.

Here is a closie of the stacked embellie on my card.  The ribbon is only thin, so I made a quad-bow with it and wrapped it around my card to make more impact.  Three beautifull mulberry flower pointsettias, some bead string (fused beads) and a hat pin of course.  Very tricky, eh??

Now to post on SCS so I get my freebie….

Oh and I think you should pop on over to Lisa’s Blog because she offers freebies there too…. Crafting Cottage go on you will love her cards and other things too.  Gorgeous!!!

See you soon!!

Hey Everyone!  Seems I am on a roll, so I kept going and made another card!!

My favourite colours and a brilliant sunset, what more would you want.  This is a Stamp It Australia stamp with sky coloured with Tombow Dual Brush Pens directly to the paper to give this rich colour.

Cut out, matted onto Bazzil Java, mounted onto Bazzil Yam with a cardbase of Kasz Oatmeal.  Embellished with braid, button and handmade Utee dipped skeleton leaf with bead chips and microbeads.  First time dipping UTEE and it is great fun, there is much more I want to try.

Might have to keep making things while my mojo is around.
