Quick and Simple Cards

Hello Everybody,

Yes you lucky people have Teddy and Lauren on the blog today, how exciting, and we can hear you asking what we have for you today.

Well, let.. me.. tell.. you! We made some cards, quick and simple, easy peasy and still pleasing to the eye!!! Hahahaha Teddy is so funny.  We had our A2Z Scraplets chippies all ready decorated and ready to go, but alas, you know us, we have misplaced them!!!!  AND we have moved so that everything is in Chaos Central (more than usual) and the dies are all still packed away, (Teddy fainted at this point) so we went looking for something that would be suitable for an audience such as you!!!

Yes, I know!! We had to be very inventive, so we got out a couple of those lovely small Paper Pads from Kaisercraft and WHALLA!!! Instant pretty cards!!

TA-DAH!! a pocket card, yes it opens just like a card and you can write inside, the front is just folded down and held with a brad, and the tags are from the pop out die cut sheet in the paper pad.  What a brilliant idea!! So quick and easy and very pretty!!!

So Teddy and I were on a roll so we made another card!!!

This one is from a gorgeous paper pad and is all geometric in mustard, black and white (Teddy’s favourite today) called A Touch of Gold.  Two sheets of paper, and several pop out die cuts from the pad and we are done.  Add a little bling of course!!!
Now you see you do not even really need to be an expert paper crafter to make beautiful cards, just cut, pop things out and glue them down and you have stunning cards that anyone would love to receive from you!!!
Hope you like them 🙂
Hugs  Lauren

Hello Everybody!!!

Oh my it is getting into Winter and it is brrrr cold inside and out.  Today is the Winter Solstice so that means that at least the days will be growing longer even if the temperature keeps dropping for a while.

So with this in mind I made a card to share with you all.

My favourite size card, in square 5 inch. Background is patterned paper with just a touch of Ranger Distress Ink in Vintage Photo around the edge.  Doily from Cheery Lynn is French Pastry.  Chipboard is the new thick cut, 1.8mm from A2Z Scraplets (my favourite chippie in the world) painted white and while wet spritzed with Glimmer Mist Black Cherry.  When dry the chipboard is covered fairly thickly with Glossy Accents.

Finished with a bow made from mesh ribbon and a handmade flower using a Carl Daisy Punch.   Stmped sentiment on the doily is from Stamp-It Australia.  Then a few bling rhinestones are added.

Hope you like it!!

Hugs 🙂

Hello Everyone,

Now just take a seat before you fall down, here I am again to post something pretty for you.

Awwww…. it is pretty and look at those 2 new baby teddies that are climbing that bird cage!! How clever are they??

Now this card is down with 2 different circle/frame dies from Marianne and I have used LR0141 to cut the largest scallop circle and then that left me a frame to use later!! Then the next size one is cut with the doily from LR0180 and have the doily to use in anothe project later.  The two that I have layered for this card are the negatives that would normally be thrown away (well by me anyway).  How cool is that?

All of this is dimensionally layered and each piece is inked with Distress Ink Vintage Photo.  The circle is the cutout from the frame that was cut (wow, 3 die cuts in one) and the scallop circle that I have stamped on is another die in this same set.  The corner flourishes come from the doily set. and the larger roses made with LR0145 as well as some roses from I am Roses, love them 🙂

Hope you like today’s offering, thanks for calling in, hope you have a great day!!

Hugs 🙂

Hello Everyone,

Just for fun I am using up a lot of my scraps and this card is an example of that.  You know that I like to layer my cards and (almost) never make a card of a single layer, I like my cards to be a bit sturdier than that.

So this is really just a simple card with die cut edged pieces of scrap in two different types of cardstock in cream.  A sentiment embossed in gold and a lace flower.

Hope you like it!!

Thanks for calling in, hope your day is going well.

Hugs :)

Hello Everyone!

Just a quick post today again, no chance to get any outdoor photos.  Have you heard or seen the storm damage on the north coast and southern Queensland.  I am hoping all my friends in the storm areas are staying safe. We would like rain, but not with the damage thank you!!  BTW we are nowhere near these bad storms.

So I stayed in my craft room and made a card or two.

So this is a bit bright and cheery, just to make up for all that rain. This card is made from scraps other than the white A5 base.  The left panel of the card is a strip I have left over from making a 5×5 card from an A4 sheet.  So I cut it the length I needed and coloured it with a felt ink applicator with Ranger Distress Ink Tattered Rose.  Then I used a stencil to colour with the Worn Lipstick.  When done, I dipped it into clear embossing powder and then heat set.  How cool is that?

I then made two scallop edge strips in white and added a pink ribbon to one and then layered the other on it.  Attached them tot he card and then added the inked panel.  Just a little different for me, but I do like to use scaps, and try my hand at brighter colours than usual.

The flower is cut with a Sizzix Bigz die Tattered Florals, the petals curled down and then big bling with a pink circle below it.  These blings are clear so they can be coloured to match the project.  I like that idea.

The sentiment is a great one for friendship and is from Stamp-It Australia.  This I have cut with my label die.

Hope you like it.  I will post again tomorrow, maybe something completely different, who knows?

Thanks for calling in, hope your day is going well.

Hugs :)

Hello Everyone,

Today I thought I would give you something a bit different and put to you a Double page scrap layout with photos of my adult neice and nephew when they were children.  I hope they forgive me. 🙂

Sometimes older photos given by family to an aunt are not the best for anything, but I am happy with the result of this.  And of course I did my usual flower and bling stuff with it!!

Both pages were started with Bazzill Canvas Fawn, sponge inked around the edge and textured with an aging stamp cube and the word frinds. An 8×8 panel in Bazzill Canvas Vanilla, stamped with background stamps around the edge in placed in the centre of both pages.  Designer paper is torn, inked and rolled to give that burned appearance.

Photos cropped and placed, then the title tiles on both pages and then the flowers and bling till done.  Oh yes the ribbon too.

Hope you like it.

Thanks for calling in, hope you day is going great.
Hugs 🙂

Hello Everyone!

Brrr…. it is back to Winter!!  Snow on the mountains and the breeze coming from that direction makes it heater and blanket weather!! So unusual for October!!

So with that in mind I spent the day inside and made a card!! 🙂

Ribbon, lace and embossed background, matted onto wine coloured cardstock on a cream A6 Card base.

Sizzix Bigz Elegant Flourish on the top half of the card.

A beautiful ribbon and lace flower embellished with a rhinestone/black pearl is the base of the flower cluster.  A handmade rose some inked mulberry petals.  I love putting together clusters of flowers.  I think I love making flowers.  Love those rhinestone centres on the larger flowers, so super blingy.

The sentiment was stamped onto cream cardstock and cut at either end, then a corner punch used to cut the ends and then cut the other side to finish.  I love it when my craft tools can multipurpose themselves!!!  The sentiment panel was matted onto wine cardstock and handcut.

The card is finished with some liquid pearls and that lovely silver butterfly, double layered.  It is cut with Memory Box Darla Butterfly….. my friend Lisa is getting me the Vivienne Butterfly to match from the Cutting Garden, they sell all the best dies!!

Thanks for calling in, hope your day is going ok.

Hello Everyone!!

Yes I had to make a card today, just for the fun of it.

A Christmas card no less!!  I did promise myself that I would make a Christmas card wvery week this year, well that did not work!
So here it is.

I loved making the background of this card. The panel is pieced together with a green crackle piece in the centre and the two side panels are a piece of music paper and stamped with Lucy’s stamps chalk holly and berries in green and red and then torn down the middle.  All pieces are all edged in Vintage Photo Distress ink.  When assembled the panel is placed on a Cranberry card base.

The Tree from the Lovely As A Tree set from SU is stamped in Versamark and heat embossed with gold EP the same as the sentiment from Lucy’s stamps.  Both are on Oatmeal  cardstock and matted onto cranberry card and then attached with dimensional mount adhesive.

Oh and of course would I ever do something without pearls or such?? Never, so 3 little pearls on the tree focal. You can see that Ted is loving it too!!

Thanks for calling in.  I hope you have a great day

Hugs 🙂

Hello Blogland Friends!!

What a glorious warm beach weather type of day if only I were a beachy type person.  Today was gorgeous!!!

Well it made me want to hide inside and get stamping and beading.  So I made a pair of cards with vellum, beading and embossing on them.

Vellum gives such wonderful opportunities, it is so versatile, different and it is delicate too, but not so delicate that you cannot work with it.

So here they are.

I love the look of both of them, but the pink is oh so delicate and adorable.

These both have clear vellum with white ink stamped on the reverse side.  I used a rollagraph frangipani/tropical wheel, you know lots of solid stamp area.  It worked a treat layered over the pale blue or pale pink.  You can see the depth of colour around the edge of the vellum.

I attached the vellum with eyelets and Scotch Vellum Tape.  Do you know that this is only good on pale to mid colours (never disappears on dark colours) and takes about 24hours to disappear completely.  When applying you should ‘activate’ it by rubbing with your finger over the backing tape before peeling away and it should only ever be applied to the porous surface first (cardstock, not the vellum).

The beads are treaded onto 26gauge wire and attached through the eyelets with D/S tape behind and held in place at the front with the Happy Birthday panel.  I find it very messy to use glue to hold beads in place, always get into a mess, so I either do something like this, or use cotton and anchor from behind by sewing them down.

The flutterbys are embossed with a mix of white EP, pearl EP and perfect pearl powder.  It worked very well.  The EPs were about even amounts and the pearls enough to get the colour I wanted.  I tested it until I got the depth of colour I wanted.

Very simple card really, but I am very very happy with it.

The stamps used are both by Stamp-It Australia

Thanks for calling in.  Hope your day is a really great one.

These cards are being entered into the following challenges.

Oh My this week on the Mix It Up Challenge on SCS our Miss Lynn challenged us to make a simple card.  Well as you know I am not a CAS type person, I love embellishing and I love the journey of the making, the time spent.

I can make a CAS card in 5 mins and feel so robbed by doing this.  But I put myself right out there and came up with these two little beauties.

The first one took a little time….. oh ok about 10 mins, 15 with glue drying and punching time.

Simple, easy and colourful happy birthday card.  Some bling on the flowers.  And the chance to use the die cutter.  The stamp is by Stamp-It Australia.

But then I thought, this is not really a CAS card, go on girl get one done…. so..

Now this fits the bill.  Stamped with Colorbox Fluid Chalk ink, top to bottom, so the ink layers over the one above.  I love Fluid Chalk, it is a dye ink, but has the opacity of pigment and will layer so well so long as the ink it is going over is dry.  Gives great coverage and will blend when you want it to.  The sentiment stamp is by Kaszazz and the butterfly is a Penny Black.  Love Penny Black stamps. I got to be creative with the Liquid Pearls, so pretty and this card got me a mention in CAS card of the week on SCS, how cool is that.

Thanks for calling in, hope your day is great!!!!
Hugs 🙂
