Gate Fold

Love being part of the Fancy Fold Card Swap.  This is my last card for this swap, the Gate Fold card.  This swap has made me think outside the square, and make something other than my usual fold the A5 cardstock down the cente and decorate the front.

I have found I love using doilies on my cards, and I love these punched flowers with pearl centres.

I just carried the colour theme inside and decorated the side panels and the corners of the centre panel.  Overall I like the card and hope that Betty does too!!

Hey I did this without any probs at all!! Can you believe it??? I was so worried, kept getting confused as to where to score, which way to fold, oh so confusing to me!!

This is for Betty’s Fancy Fold Card Swap on SCS.  Ta-Dah!! My waterfall card!!

Front of card as it lays flat, don’t you just love that little tassel that I made??? I love fiddling with things like that!!

And when you pull on that little tassel the card slider works and shows more images.  How cool is that???

Now I made the waterfall mechanism onto a card panel and put it onto an opening card.  I didn’t know whether that was done or not, but I liked having the opening card and the opening slider.

When I was very young, the one constant and wonderful thing in my life was my Grandmother. She taught me needlecrafts like crochet, knitting, embroidery and so much more.  She was patience and love always.  I loved her dearly and still do, and keep the connection with in my crafts every day.  Earlier today I was thinking and talking about her so I made a card that represents so many things about my Grandmother.

I loved this card so much I am using it as my Easel Card in Betty’s Fancy Fold Swap.

Loved making this card, love the papers, love the colours, love the image!!  This is a double pocket card for Betty’s Fancy Fold swap on SCS.

The image is from Penny Black and is coloured with Vivid Ink Olive and watercolour pencil for the flower.

Over the martini glass a SU stamp with the simple word sparkle.

The ribbon is satin edged in gold and I used Vivid Ink Olive to dye it to the colour I wanted, then tied a lovely bow over the bottom pocket.

Finishing the focal is three sparkling rhinestones.

Each pocket/panel is faux stitched, giving another detail to tie all panels together.

How good is this, I am swapping again, and ready to go.  Took 2 spots and one will be this card and the other a nautical theme with lighthouse….

She is a cute image from Penny Black, transparent and she is Mimi.

I watermarked the background pink with Perfect Medium, attached a ribbon (with pop can tab as buckle) to DP and attached it to the pink, then to the card.  Stamped the greeting and Mimi with Ancient Page Coal Black.  She is coloured with watercolour pencils, but not blended.  Panels are cut with Nestabilities, layered and embellished with some brads, then mounted onto the card.  This card is side opening and inside is trimmed with a little pink and the designer paper.

A very easy card, but a lovely bright card that is delightful for a birthday, young or old!!

Well I promised myself I would clean and cook today, but I always say I do not do either of those jobs, so you won’t be surprised that I made a card instead!!  I did the sketch challenge (from earlier in the week) from SCS.

I liked this result, it was a clean simple layout, I got to stamp a background, and used my Big Shot to emboss and cut, and I got to do a little colouring.  The colouring is important as it is a new direction to me and I am liking the results I am getting.

I mounted the image and the sentiment after I overlapped them to give some dimension, and embellished the inside with the off cuts of my background stamping.  No waste!!

And I used some brads to embellish the corners, top and bottom.  Yes it has everything I love….. including being mainly monochromatic!!!  Don’t you just love it??

Forest Recycle Swap

My third swap is a Full Sized Card to save the forest with some recycled elements.

I tend to be a layering kind of girl, with basic black or white base card.  Simple colour design, or monochromatic.  But never boring!!  The flowers, butterfly and stem are all made from aluminium cans, don’t you just love it when something good can come from something we would throw away?

The inside is very simple with a white panel, rounded on diagonal corners and with simple stamping in black fun flower and butterfly.  Both stamps are Penny Black, inkpad Vivid Black.

The aluminium can is cut, flattened and then coloured with Stazon Ink.  Green over Blue for the butterfly with the under piece in red.  The flower is done in red.

Just a close up of the rhinestone detail on the stem.  I love using bling, bling, bling, layers, layers, layers and ink, ink, ink.

My First Swap….

In October last year I joined Splitcoast Stampers Group after having been lurking there as a guest for some couple of years….

Well I thought I should become involved a little instead of just gleaning all the ideas and techniques without giving anything back. I am so glad I did.

I have taken a couple of spots in a swap (my very first) and thanks to Libby for letting me. Here are my efforts.

The above card is for the Reptile Section. He is a cute little gecko on white card base, layered with Pickle and Bamboo Bazzill Canvas cardstock, co-ordinating designer paper, with a focal of the gecko stamped on white card layered onto Splash Bazzil. Coloured with watercolour pencils and finished with co-ordinating twill and brads in the fancy corner cuts.

The second section is…. wait for it…. Kangaroo. Now what Aussie could resist this when sending to the USA? Very simple card on white base, full panel and half panel of Parakeet and Pinecone Bazzill, embossed with my fav tree and a focal of the little kangaroo. All panels are edged with distress ink to add dimension. Ribbon, ric rac and brads to embellish.
