Hello Everyone,

It looks like this Summer is going to be a challenging one with the heat, dry and bushfires.  Tasmania has been very badly hit and is not out of danger yet as I understand.  So many stories of devastation and destruction and also the tales of survival and escape.  So sad for so many who have lost homes and those who have lost lives.  It also looks like Victoria and NSW are badly effected as well with the rural community suffering so badly.  Northern NSW is on alert tomorrow and through to the end of the week, with some areas still classified as catastrophic.  Stay safe and take care please.  Material things can be replaced but lives cannot.

Well after all that heat and fire stuff, it is time for a cool down with some water fun cards.  I have made a couple of very easy masculine cards with one of my favourite male type stamp.

Teddy loves this one with the wavy background that is made using a Fiskars Texture plate run through the Bigshot with the rubber embossing mat.  I really like it.

Love the sentiment and the yacht and simply finished with some buttons.

Oh and Ted just is so thrilled about being the presenter of two cards today, did you see the look on his face, he is so cute!!

This one is simply black and white with an embossed background and some ric rack.  How simple but also very classy looking too.

Hope your day has been a great one, I am so pleased you called in.

Hugs 🙂

Hello Everyone,

You know there was a time when I was a gardener and when we lived at Corlette I planted seedlings from Pigmy Date Palms that I had germinated from those I had planted at Hillsborough.  Well I harvested seeds from those plants at Corlette and brought seedlings with me when we came here.

This is one of twenty I have in my garden now. 🙂

I get so much joy from growing from seed.  There are many plants in this garden that have come from germinating myself.  Loads of Birdsnest ferns, loads of hen and chicken ferns, other palms, Clivias and Agapanthas.  If only I could keep these masses of gardens under control,  it keeps wanting to go wild.

So with this much joy in my heart, I had to make a card.  Yes I had to make a card with the man in my life in mind.  So I made two cards, different images, same cards.

Yes how many fellas do not like to fish? Even if they can’t catch anything?  But you know most fellas can fish and catch things, but I don’t eat fish, no way!!  I think fellas go fishing for the escape from the little woman and to be on their own…. haha.

And this is the Titanic.  Love the era of 1850’s through to the First World War.  I think I lived there once.

Now these two cards are made exactly the same.  Base of Oatmeal and a strip of cardstock (scraps) with the oatmeal broder.  Two paper fasteners.  You know I like to use them for brads, so much cheaper.  The washi tape is made from surgical tape from the first aid kit (Micropore) and inked over with a rollagraph script wheel, or could just be stamped.  I laid it on my non stick mat to do this.

The label is run through that squares EF from SU.  My strip of cardstock I stamped the ship on was a little short of the circle so I gave it flat sides, did you think that odd?  No of course not.

I used my Stamp a Majig to line up the Happy and Brithday at the bottom.  Clever little invention that.

Thanks for calling in, hope your day is going well.

Hugs :)

Hello Everyone!!

What a busy day today, well fun busy anyway.  I watched three movies today,  while I crafted, not that I got a lot done, most of my tasks today were fairly time consuming, hand sewing on cards and lots of Glossy Accents on chipboard.

The movies were, Veronica Guerin, I love that move with Cate Blanchette, but mainly because it is a true story of a journalist who is the catalyst in law changes and the drug war in Ireland with her investigations and death because of those investigations.
Next came The Blind Side with Sandra Bullock, I love that movie and I love her.  Fantastic actress and this is such a giving story, again a true story, heartwarming, funny and oh so watchable.  Yes I have seen it many times.
Oh and then I watch The DaVicni Code, not seen before by me and a surprising choice, but I do love Tom Hanks.  Bit more of a mystery, thriller than I am used to (I tend to not be good with suspense, sets the old heart a racing), but it was a good story and I kept up with most of it.  I will have to watch it again.  Crafting tends to allow me to miss bits here and there. 🙂

The other thing today was that we got up to find an unkown motor bike about 5 or 6 metres from the bedroom window.  Just parked there, minding its own business.  So I called our neighbour to find out if  it was anything to do with her family at all, the answer was no.  Although I am a mind my own business sort of person most of the time, this did seem a little sus to me, so I called the police.

Well the police turned up later in the day, two really nice coppers and asked a few quiestions, then went off to check it out.  They were a while and we thought they were going to arrest the bike and be off with it, but no.  They found out it had been stolen from Hamilton and the number plates were missing.  Bit suspect they said.

I really get a peed off with the increase in crime and the fact that it comes so close to my home.  Hope the police catch the mongrels before they have a change to use those plates for whatever they think they need them for.  I feel sorry for the person the bike belongs to, someone who obviously takes care of their things and now has to go to the expense of retreiving the bike (which cannot be ridden until it has either a permit or new plates) and the cost of the new plates for it.

So I took a photo of this little stolen bike, he is a cutie and in good nick with almost a tank full of petrol.

So that is the wildlife as it is, not very moveable by itself and gone now.

Well I had best show you a card I made yesterday.  A masculine card no less.

This is a fairly easy card to make, with an embossed background in blue with Cuttlebug Happy Birthday EF.  The stamp is by SU, one of my favourite man stamps is stamped in Colorbox Fluid Chalk Charcoal and heat dried (it becomes permanent when heat dried or set).  Then I cut it out with a label die and used a circle template to sponge the sun and the water was masked as well.

Then I stamped Happy Birthday with a SU word set and cut with a smaller label.  Then I pierced the holes around both labels and attached them to the op part of the embossed panel and added the ribbon and spiral clip before adding the completed panel to the card base.

Hope you like this.

Thanks for calling in, hope your day is going well.

Hugs :)

Hello Everyone!!!

Well today got a little warmer and tomorrow will be warmer still with winds from the northwest, bringing the heat of the inland with it.  But relief is in sight, a cool change on Friday for the weekend to be very comfortable.

The sky was almost a clear blue, but there were some streaky clouds, do you want to have alook at them?

Very pretty isn’t it?  I love how the sky can be almost clear and have just some patches like this, not too far above the horizon.

So I made a card with some blue in it.  Over on Splitcoaststampers the Mix It Up Challenge has asked us to make a Male Birthday Card, with some blue, 3 embellishments and a sentiment.  Now you say who thought of that?  Well it was moi!!!  Yes I am the hostess this week.

So here it is!! Yes a boy card, with 3 embellies (3 brads), some blue (the ocean and the border of the image), and a sentiment (happy birthday, of course).

A white A6 card with side opening.  A mat of an embossed panel, using the burlap by Sizzix and inked around the edge.  A SU stamp of a sailing boat lightly shaded with chalks and matted onto Bazzill Typhoon.  The brads and a sentiment by Stamp-It Australia.

Easy and neat, quick to make and you can bet it will be happily received!!!

Thanks for calling in, hope your day is going well.

Hugs :)

Hello Everyone!

Gotta love today’s post, it is about an Aussie plant.  Yes.  And they grow in the bush around here, although not huge in size.

Xanthorrhoea is an Australian native plant genus. Commonly called grass trees, or black boys, Xanthorrhoea plants are also known as balga grass to the Australian aborigines, which is their word for black boy.

Now don’t go all politically correct on the wording above….

They are beautiful and get trunks on them as they get older.  I love the Aussie natives, so different, so very lovely.

So I made a card for the Alphabet Challenge over on Splitcoaststampers for the Letter X, how funny is that?

Oh look even Ted got in the picture and did you see he changed the flower prop? Yessiree, he chose the gold one to match the card.

Yes a masculine card on a 4×8″ base opening upwards.  Matted with Bazzill basics Yam and some DP from Kaszazz.  An oval focal with 3 grass trees stamped on it and a ribbon cut sentiment strip.

Easy card today.  Just so excited about the grass trees.

Thanks for calling in, hope your day is going well.

Hugs :)

Hello Everyone,

Today was a little cooler than yesterday.  Lovely spring day so I just had to have a look at the pics I have taken of the garden so you can see what I have.

Here is a pic of a brown snake that a friend of mine took at his workplace, an open cut coal mine no less….. ewwww how would like to come across him while you were working, I think not!!!

What can I say, I have never warmed to these creatures, I am happy to have them have their space so long as I can have mine.

Ah today I made a card to make our Kathy happy over on the MIU Challenge thread of  SCS.  She is the lovely hostess with the mostess this week and she wants us to make a scene with stamps, something like the stampscapes do.

Well I don’t have any of those, so I had to make doo with some others.

I have used Stamp-It stamps and the tree is by Penny Black.  The lighthouse stamped first, then the tree, then some tall grass and then the boat.  The short grass is used to fill in to complete the scene.

I have left it in Black and White, just for a change.  Besides, I am no colourer!!! Well not today anyway.

Thanks for calling in, hope your day is going well.

Hugs :)

Hello Everyone!!

Very warm day today, amazing we can have 29 today and the night before last it snowed on the mountains.  Dare I ask what is happening with snow in October?

Over the last several years our garden has really grown and established itself.  When we first came here we had lots of parrots and bigger birds and no small ones.  We planted lots of bushy shrubs like grevilleas and a few prickly leaf shrubs, lots of old fashioned Gardenias and loads of Clivias.  This has created a haven for little wrens, gorgeous blue headed babies, noisy twitterers and whistlers.  They are gorgous.

I do really like this SU bird punch with the branch and the wing for him, it is so cute and a perfect size for everything!!

So I made a card with the bird on it.  From this lovely little inspiration and because my friend Miss Lynn is hosting the feathered friends in the MIU Challenge over on SCS.

Yes it is a Masculine Card!! A base A6 card opening at the bottom with a smaller embossed panel leaving a 1cm white border.  The EF used is from SU and stamped with the large stamp from the SU Boroque Motifs set before embossing and then inked around the edge with Colorbox Fluid Chalk in Olive Pastel.

The Birthday Celebrations from SU is stamped on a strip that has been cut with a tag punch for the ends, edged with ink, slot holes punched and ribbon threaded and a knot to finish that.

Lots of foliage added and the bird has been edged with ink before being placed.  A pearl for his eye and some pearls on the sentiment strip.
Hope you like it.  Thanks for calling in, hope you have a great day!!

Hugs 🙂

Hello Everyone!!

Yesterday I spend most of my day in a craft Webinar, doesn’t that sound so technologically advanced??? Well actually I spent most of my day on Skype with my friend Lisa from Crafting Cottage and she crafted up a storm with a wonderful vintage card/tag/pocket caper that I am so envious of!!!   That girl can really has talent for style and colour.  I love her work.

Well I did some more eggshell stuff that I really like and this masculine birthday card.

The background panel that I have stamped on is made using the Shaving Cream Technique from SCS, so easy and so pretty.  I liked the cammo look of this and thought it was perfect for the Jeep to be coming out of.

Tim Holtz rays EF has been used on the base card, a birthday sentiment and few brads.
Very simple and very good for a man in my life.

Now a quick sneak peak of my eggshell background technique piece that could be used as a jewellery piece or a beautiful embellishment.

This piece is only 2 inches wide and the roses are so small, fiddly to make, but oh so worthwhile, yes I made those two little roses and punched the leaves from a small punch.

The edges of the piece have been coated with Versamark Ink and then dipped in gold embossing powder then heated and dipped again until the finish around the edges was as I wanted it.  The top is coated with Glossy Accents.  I am so pleased I saw this technique in the Weekly Inkling.

Thanks for calling in, I hope your day is a wonderful one.

Hugs 🙂

Hi Everyone,

This week over on the Alphabet Challenge on SCS the letter is E and you know I love to pile on the items beginning with the letter of the week, but it is not Easy this week….

Also you can  bring a friend (like I would have one of those) and get 5 points for her dropping in and then she gets the same points as you and you get the same points as her….. how good is this.
Well on with my card.

Yes surprise, surprise this could be a … Boy Card.  So I will tell you the story of my card.

I have 10 items starting with E for my card ….. it is an Easel card, in Ecru and Ebony, with an Embossed background above an Elongated rectangle picture panel and a deckle Edge, showing an Eucalyptus tree and two Equestrians and an Eagle, and coloured using the Eraser technique….

All stamps by Stamp-It Australia from their outback collection. Some used in full, some only partial stamps to create my ‘scene’. I love my Stamp-It Stamps as they are ‘home-grown’ and these are the stamps I started stamping with, good deep etched rubber with fantastic cushioning.  (Do I get points for the commercial?)

Thanks for calling in my friends, hope you have a fantastic day on the wind down to the weekend.

Hugs 🙂

Hey get a go at this!!! I made a card for a boy!!! So hard for me, no flowers, no ribbon, egad! What to put on it???

Those twisty like a pretzel girls over at Twisted Tuesday Challenge Blog really got turned inside out this week, oh my they wanted a card for a child, ok I could do that, but I really didn’t want to colour that much, so I decided to go for a boy, silly decision.  No ribbon for boys, no pink for boys and no flowers for boys……… What on earth was I thinking????

So here it is …………….

Ha Ha did you see it knock the sox off teddy??? He was so blown away by this card, he wants one for his own birthday.  Go Ted!!!

Ok so this is fairly simple, a white A6 standard base card, with a background from Bazzill Typhoon embossed with gadget gear embossingfolder and some Kaisercraft paper at the bottom to match the little robot colouring.

The robot image was sent to me so have no clue who he is by, if you know, tell me please.  He is coloured in watercolours and the white background coloured lightly with chalks.  Cut out with Spellbinders reverse circles, matted onto the largest gear from the Tim Holtz Bigs die.

Embellished with more gears and some brads.  Happy Botday stamped on a banner piece. Like I said simple and easy. Hope you like him.

Supply List:

Sizzix Embossing Folders Gears (from the 2pack steampunk)
Spellbinders Nestabilities reverse circles
Sizzix Bigz die by Tim Holtz gadget gears
Stamp-It Australia HappyBirthday casual

Hope your day has been a good one and you had time to get ink on your fingers!!

Lauren 🙂
