Hey Everyone, great creating day today, in the craft room with the fan to take the heat out of the day. It really wasn’t that hot, but let’s face it 25 is getting too warm for me.
So I made a card, yes a boy birthday card with some handmade twine on it. My friend Lisa asked me about making it yesterday after I posted the Penny Black card with the twine around the focal. You know Lisa, you can see her beautiful work at Crafting Cottage and you know how much I love her work!!
Background is inked embossing and wax resist on the bottom. Image coloured with watercolour pencils. Both stamps from Stamp-It Australia. Twine by Laurenscraft (tutorial to follow in next post).
The top section is done with Sizzix Tim Holtz embossing folder inked on the raised surface with Colorbox Pigment Ink – Frost White. The bottom is a wax resist on mat cardstock, then direct to paper with Vivid Ink – Sky Blue. I fancy that it looks like the shimmer effect of the sunlight on water.
The twine for the card is made by me, it is really easy. Two-toned like bakers twine, but in nautical colours. The white is the one I made for the tutorial.
Hope you like this little birthday effort, a great one for the boys!!
Wonderful masculine card and I love your coloring! I like the inked embossed part of your card…..very cool. And I can’t wait to see your tutorial on your own handmade twine! Great job Lauren!
Lauren this is an all time favourite of mine! I love the effect on the embossed background, it turned out beautifully and yes it does look like sunlight! I can’t wait to read your next post to see how you make the twine! The image you used is perfect and the coloring is wonderful! Love It!!! *hugs*
Lisa 🙂
Beautiful card, perfect for men! I love that affect of coloring onto the embossing folder, it’s such fun & you’ve really used it well on this card. Love the specially made twine too!
Lovely card Lauren I especially like the stamp you used. I love lighthouses and you did a great job on the twine and the video for it. The colors you chose are very soothing. Great card.
